Shared World - Conclusions
Writing as a team has really helped the quality of our work. We work together as writers, bouncing story ideas and plot points off of one another, giving notes, helping with editorial. Having a team of writers working with you in the same genre and setting helps us push one another to execute on the strongest story ideas. To make certain our characters have interesting and dramatic stories. To make sure our surprises our surprising and our tender moments are genuine. I’m a much better writer working with Phil and Tiff than I am alone. Galhadria is better and stronger as a story world with all of us in it.
The story world is richer and more alive when there is more than one mind working to craft it. I have my own ideas for epic journeys and tales and myths and legends, but they constantly explore areas I hadn’t thought of, and in doing so, they spark new ideas and holidays and costume details and discussions on heraldry.
We also have our own bard. Arthur Rowan works with us to help bring the world to life through song. We’ve pitched all manner of crazy ideas to him, and he’s always come back with something that wildly exceeded expectations. Some of his lyrics wind up being woven into the cultural fabric of different Galhadria nations and peoples. Amazing stuff when you think about it.
So that’s writing in a shared world. It’s fun. It’s sometimes a little wacky. But mainly, it makes for really great stories that are much more epic and awesome than they would be if we were just working away alone. We hope you enjoy them.!
